We were asked to have a look at Mr. Roush’s military service claims after a photograph of him was published in a local newspaper in November 2016.
So, after some solid research, we have confirmed that Roush was never Awarded the Navy Cross as he claimed when he joined the RCL nor, is he the recipient of the Navy and Marine Corps Medal and the Purple Heart.
It’s somewhat difficult to be wounded in action and rescue shipmates after a Viet-Cong combat swimmer attack on a Riverine Navy support ship when you are a reservist in the US and 9000 miles from the incident!

“They’re probably right,” Roush said when asked about allegations he wore the Navy’s Purple Heart and U.S. Navy and Marine Corps Medals, despite not earning them.
“It’s something I deeply regret,” he said. “There are a lot of people there (at the Legion) that I respect.”
