Mismanaged Valour? Nice try “captain landmine”!

****UPDATE****

Terry Birch
Cornwall, Ontario

Terry “captain landmine” Birch of Cornwall, Ontario really should have taken our offer, made in July 2019, to assist in extracting himself from his many years of medallic fuckery™.

Mr Birch was contacted and we detailed the significant issues with his military narrative and the medals he wore. Yet, he chose to play the internet tough guy with the assistance and support of his enablers and gullible supporters.

When this deception was exposed, Birch should have had the common decency to (1) publicly apologize for his reprehensible actions, (2) recant his ridiculous claim of being wounded in action by a landmine strike in Montreal, (3) surrendered the unearned medals for appropriate disposal action and, (4) returned the Sovereign’s Volunteer Medal (SVM) to Rideau Hall.

These steps would have cleared his conscience, demonstrated a modicum of honesty and protected the integrity of the honours and awards system.

But, look at where we are now.

After an Article 3 Hearing held at the Cornwall Royal Canadian Legion on 12 Oct 2019; Birch was found to have brought discredit to the organization by way of his actions. He received a yet undisclosed censure from the Cornwall legion branch and was escorted off the property.

The Cornwall Police Service investigation has concluded and Mr Birch is facing criminal charges (x3) under Section 419 of the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC) – Unlawful Use Of Military Uniforms or Certificates. Birch attended court in Cornwall, 12 December 2019. Apparently, he attempted to plead guilty however, the judge refused to accept the plea at this time. He’ll be back in court 0930 14 January 2020.

Should he be convicted, Rideau Hall will be lobbied to review the circumstances of his award of the Sovereign’s Volunteers Medal with the goal of having it revoked.

That’s quite the legacy “captain landmine”!

David Eugene Christie – Vietnam Angel from the Sky!

We were sent links to a story in which David Eugene Christie detailed his exploits in South East Asia / Vietnam. The conflict between the stories and recorded history was apparent from the start, and our research team took action.

What we have learned, Christie was a member of the Royal Canadian Navy & he was shown the door very shortly after completing recruit school (serial 6934) at CFB Cornwallis, NS. He was never qualified as a radioman or “medic” however, he claims he volunteered to deployed to the Republic of Vietnam with a “non-combatant” platoon of medical evacuation lifesavers and he was personally responsible for saving over 100 lives.

Christie says that he spent 15 months in country with 1st Div/2nd Reg Medevac Unit #6934, quite the coincidence that his medevac unit would have the same number as his recruit school serial…

Now, why would he be wearing a WW2 medal group and the hat badge of a unit he never served in?

Obviously, many people have been negatively impacted by his lies including family, friends & legion mates. We understand that they are all shocked to discover that’s he’s not the man they thought he was.

Mr Christie most likely believes that what he has perpetrated is essentially, harmless and victimless however, his published fairy tales resulted in considerable grief to the surviving sister of then, 19 year old Ranger Sergeant Rob McSorley, a Canadian who was killed in action in Vietnam while serving with L Company (Ranger), 75th Infantry, 101st Airborne Division.

Rob’s sister wrote “ This fellow makes me very angry! How dare a fake like him even mention Rob’s name. This is disgusting!! My brother was an honourable man & unfortunately died at a young age – a little over a week past his 19th birthday. Even after all these years, it is still painful & I miss him every day. Mr. Christie has no honour & he should refrain from mentioning my brother’s name in future as he didn’t know him or experience what he went through as he wasn’t there. Mr. Christie, if you’re reading this, please own up to being a fake. In other words, be a MAN!! My brother was more of a man at 18/19 than you will ever”

We live in Cape Breton, and for about the last 10 years he (Mr Christie) has been “dressing up” and attending as a “veteran”- Remembrance Day Ceremonies in communities in our surrounding areas as well as schools.

Christie claims that his CO from his Vietnam days, travelled to Cape Breton to award him his Vietnam Campaign Medal..

Christie’s personal shrine which includes a WW2 “six pack” and assorted privately purchased medals of no legal standing.

Time to apologize for your reprehensible actions, surrender the bogus items and just fade away Mr Christie…

Robert Cooper. Wetaskiwin, Alberta – Guilty!

Mr Robert Copper of Wetaskiwin, Alberta – is now a convicted Valour Thief.

He received a $1500 fine, 1 year supervised probation and 10 hours community service for his medallic fuckery™.

Hopefully, scrubbing the the local cenotaph will provide him the opportunity to reflect upon his reprehensible behaviour!

For 24.95 (USD) plus shipping and handling and you can become a wounded hero!

Hendrik Van der pol – “the Lying Dutchman”

Hendrick Van der pol – “the Dutchman”

In the image taken at the Silver Fox Entertainment Centre in Summerside PEI on 11 November 2019, he’s rockin’ a most interesting collection of ribbons and insignia.

The ribbons represent the Canadian Somalia Medal, Special Service Medal, Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal, UN Interim Force in Lebanon, UN Protection Force, UN Assistance Mission in Rwanda, NATO (FY), the Canada 125th Anniversary, the Canadian Forces Decoration, a privately purchased Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal & The St John Ambulance Service Medal.

Of the 3 medal ribbons on the bottom row, there’s the Netherlands UN Peacekeeping Medal, the centre one is unknown and the last is a privately purchased UN commemorative trinket.

Our Dutch friends tell us that he is wearing the Draaginsigne Gewonden, legitimately awarded, on his left chest pocket, the badge is analogous to Canada’s Sacrifice Medal.

What we do know.

He was a Boatswain in the Navy Reserve 1991-97 then transferred to the Regular Force as an Infantryman serving in 2nd Bn RCR in Gagetown 1997-2001. He completed a tour in Bosnia 1999 and was awarded the CPSM and NATO (FY) Medal.  Van der pol voluntarily left the CF in 2001.

Before joining the CF, Van der Pol had prior service in the Netherlands Army and he was deployed as a mechanized infantryman with the UN Interim Force in Lebanon.

Of the medal ribbons that he’s wearing, there is no evidence that Dutchman has any lawful entitlement to the wear the (1) Canadian Somalia Medal, (2) the Canadian Special Service Medal (NATO), (3) UN Protection Force Medal, (4) UN Assistance Mission in Rwanda Medal, (5) Canada 125th Medal, (6) the Canadian Forces Decoration and, (7) the St John Ambulance Service Medal.

Of course, there’s an awesome vest involved…

In an email exchange with Van der pol, he talks of role in a play in which he played a soldier suffering from PTSD who became a biker…

He claims the uniform and jacked up ribbons and insignia were just stage props that he wore on the same day as he was camping with a 2% van club in Europe and he changed on the way to the venue.

Cool story bro, the ribbons on the uniform and your cut are identical unfortunately, the images are separated by 6 years!

You also told us that you were wearing the US Combat Infantry Badge to honour your father, a Netherlander who was wounded in action in Korea.  And, the jump wings were awarded / purchased at a civvy parachute school and your CO authorized you to wear them.

The US Navy wings are an interesting addition to his medallic fuckery…
Then, outta the blue, Ol’ Hendrik just cowboy’d up… (7 April 2021)

Never pass a fault.
