Ronald BISNAIRE – Administrative Error, Misremembering or Stolen Valour?

Ronald BISNAIRE – Windsor, Ontario

We were asked to have a look at a number of images posted up by an interviewer / chronicler of military veterans in early February 2026. Mr Ronald BISNAIRE claims to have been a Staff Sergeant in USAF during the period 1960-1965.

From the interview

“84 Year Old Canadian Vietnam War Veteran Ron Bisnaire. Ron born in Windsor joined the USAAF in 1959. After his training was completed he was sent to Vietnam in 1961, 4 year before the Vietnam War was officially declared. Ron was a cargo technician and was injured during a plane crash. He finish the next half of his served in Morocco, France and England working on B-52 bomber planes.”

Note – the US ARMY AIR FORCE (USAAF) became the US AIR FORCE on 26 September 1947 therefore, Bisnaire was never a member of that organization.

Immediate red flags were raised with his claim of being awarded the US Army Distinguished Service Cross (DSC), the 2nd most senior award for heroism in combat. Bisnaire isn’t listed as a recipient.

Also problematic, the USAF United States Air Force Distinguished Service Medal (DSM) awarded to members of the USAF, traditionally Major Generals,  who distinguished themselves by exceptionally meritorious service to the government in a duty of great responsibility. There is absolutely no public record of Bisnaire being a recipient of the DSM.

In addition to the DSC and DSM there are issues with the following awards that he claims…

The Armed Forces Service Medal (AFSM)

Created on 11 January 1996 retroactive to 1992, The AFSM is a deployed service medal that is presented to those service members who engage in “significant activity” for which no other U.S. campaign or service medal is authorized. Bisnaire missed the award window 27 years!

Armed Forces Reserve Medal (AFRM)

Awarded to officers and enlisted personnel in the Air Force Reserve or Air National Guard after 10 years of honourable service, which must be completed within 12 consecutive years. Bisnaire claims only 5 years service.

Air and Space Overseas Long Tour Award (created in 1980)

The ribbon was awarded to Air Force and Air Force Reserve members credited with completion of an overseas tour on or after 1 Sept 1980.
Bisnaire misses the award window by 15 years.

Notably, absent from his display, the National Defense Service Medal (NDSM) a U.S. Armed Forces award for honorable active duty service during specific periods of national emergency or conflict.

Eligibility, honorable service during the following periods

Korean War: Jun 27, 1950 – Jul 27, 1954

Vietnam War: Jan 1, 1961 – Aug 14, 1974

Persian Gulf War (Desert Shield/Desert Storm): Aug 2, 1990 – Nov 30, 1995

Global War on Terrorism (GWOT): Sep 11, 2001 – Dec 31, 2022.

Bisnaire’s military themed fairy tale starts @ 6:45… https://youtu.be/E40zgiur9hM?si=nxMiNNkkhpmRCB91

Now, this apparent case of medallic fuckery™ could be due to a long series of administration errors however, simple arithmetic and recorded history is telling us a different story…

So, the questions now becomes, is Ron Bisnaire misremembering his military service, a victim of a decades old administrative error in which files were not updated / lost or is he lying sack of shit and stolen valourist?

SVC along with our friends and supporters are prepared to assist Mr Bisnaire in determining his truth…

This post will be updated as additional information is confirmed.

***Update***

We are now in receipt of Bisnaire’s military records accessed via Freedom of Information Act request. The documents indicate that his actual career was considerably different than what he has claimed.

*He was an Airman First Class not a Staff Sergeant.

*He was a clerk employed in Base Supply / Commissary and not a Cargo Technician.

*There’s no evidence of him being entitled to enlisted aircrew wings.

*He never served in Vietnam.

*Wasn’t responsible for transporting body bags or Agent Orange.

*There’s no evidence of him being injured in a plane crash.

There’s absolutely no evidence of him being awarded any medal other than the USAF Good Conduct Medal however, he’s likely eligible to the US National Defense Medal. That’s it…

It’s now time for ex Airman First Class Bisnaire to apologize for his actions, surrender the fraudulently claimed medals / insignia and fade away.
