Mario GRENIER – he’s NOT a Gulf War Veteran!

We were asked to review a number of photographic images of retired Sergeant Mario Grenier, a self appointed veterans advocate  and former infantryman with the R22eR who resides in the Quebec City area. His service in Canada, Lahr Germany and operational deployment to the Balkans in 1992 were quite easy to confirm.

However, The Persian Gulf and Kuwait (PG&K) Medal with bar he wore at every occasion became lightning rod for comments as not one individual could vouch for his service in the operational theatre between September 1990 and March 1991.

Our team conducted a thorough review of all available records, this included websites, newspaper articles, photographic images, regimental tour books, searchable data bases of medal recipients and extracts from military documents in Canada in order to determine the legitimacy of his claims.

Grenier has claimed that the United Kingdom awarded him the Canadian PG&K Medal with bar. Now why would they do that? If he was, in fact, attached to / on exchange with the Brits, would he not have received the UK Gulf Medal like the other CF members in that situation?

All the Canadian Forces recipients of the UK Gulf Medal and they are known / gazetted and Grenier isn’t among them. DH&R name two of the recipients in the publications, while the UK Ministry of Defence have confirmed via a Freedom of Information request that there are a dozen CF recipients of their medal including Captain Ian Hope who would later lead the 1st Bn PPCLI / Task Force Orion in Afghanistan 2006.

Note the differences between the UK version (L) and the Canadian version (R) – Grenier wore the Canadian version….

It seems Grenier has been telling different stories to different audiences, he has absolutely no GW1 service despite his fairy tales of being attached to 23 (UK) Engineer Regiment for a 20 day period  (8-28 February 1991) and was tasked along with another Canadian from Ontario on a secret mission to run down SCUD missiles in Riyahd!

Of course, Grenier followed a routine that is quite familiar to us shock, anger, immediately scrubbing all of the images of him wearing the PG&K medal (and the QDJM) from his social media accounts (November 2020), indignation followed by feigned cooperation, the inevitable threats of legal action followed by a lawyer’s letter…

In an email exchange (15 Feb 2021) Grenier agreed remove the bogus medals from his group and send us a before / after images, the quid pro quo – SVC would have published those pics on our media platforms without any identifying information and Grenier could have carried on with his veteran support activities.

However, Grenier made the decision not to send us the images that he had previously agree to, furnished a picture of his cut and subsequently threatened taking legal action action against us. Note the cut on the left has 6 medal ribbons attached and the most recent version on the right has just 4 – the PG&K and QDJM ribbons have been removed.

When SVC published the details of Grenier’s medallic fuckery ™️, he very quickly posted on his FB page that he had taken the two medals down as he didn’t know he couldn’t wear the British ones… You know, the medals that he said he received in the mail in 2012 as witnessed by his buddy Pierre.

Incredible, Yes!

So, where was Grenier during the Sept 1990-March 1991 time frame? He wasn’t in Doha, Qatar guarding our air force assets with Cie C 1er R22eR nor was he chasing Scuds with the UK Land Forces. Like everyone else, not deployed, he was probably watching events unfold on the 24 hour news channels.

On 23 July 2021, Grenier posted up a pic of his revised group of medals with the PG&K and QDJM removed…

Now why would a recipient remove legitimately awarded medals? Could he not sought out the assistance of RHQ R22eR in confirming his Gulf War service and obtaining the official documentation / proof of his claims?

Why would he throw legitimately awarded medals into the garbage?

Mr Grenier was a Cold War infantryman who deployed to the Balkans. There was no need for him to embellish his military service but, he did…

It’s long past time for him to publicly apologize for claiming service in Persian Gulf, wearing two medals without any apparent lawful authority and quietly walk away from his military themed fairy tales.

Je me souviens

***UPDATED***James Kenneth FRENCH – Never pass a fault!

Mr Kenneth “James” FRENCH has been making false claims of military service for at least a decade.

https://www.bclocalnews.com/news/once-homeless-lower-mainland-veteran-hopes-government-provides-help/

In a recent newspaper article, he is pictured wearing a most interesting group of medals including the Sacrifice Medal, the General Campaign Star (South West Asia), the Persian Gulf & Kuwait Medal, the Special Service Medal & the Canadian Forces Decoration.

(1)  The Sacrifice Medal, awarded to CF personnel Wounded in Action or posthumously for those Killed in Action. This medal was created in 2008 and  is retroactive to 2001. Mr French says he served in the CF until 1999 therefore, he cannot be a legitimate recipient of that medal.

(2) The Persian Gulf and Kuwait Medal awarded for service during Gulf War 1 (1990-91). The 3rd Battalion RCR, then based in Germany, was deployed to Bahrain / Qatar as a defence / security force for the headquarters and the airfield. However, French is a complete unknown to that group of Royals. He is also unknown to the members of the 1sr Battalion RCR tasked with the defense and security of 1 Canadian Field Hospital.

(3)  The General Campaign Star (South West Asia) was created in 2004 and first awarded later that year, it is not a retroactive award, and again French claims his military service had concluded prior to this mission.

(4)  The Special Service Medal (SSM) recognizes a multitude of missions and is ALWAYS awarded with a clasp detailing the operation – PEACE/PAIX, ALERT and NATO are the most common. Of note, there is no clasp on the SSM he’s wearing.

(5) Lastly, the Canadian Forces Decoration (CD) is a long service and good conduct medal, it requires 12 years of honourable service. By his own admission, he has only 10 years of military service.

Typically, posers, fakes and embellishers are exposed due to their difficulty understanding recorded history and simple arithmetic.

French is just the latest in a long line of individuals who have used a bogus military narrative in an attempt to gain something without any lawful entitlement

We remember the blood, sweat and tears that it took to earn a piece of metal attached to coloured ribbon, a strip of cloth or an embroidered badge, and that is why we get somewhat emotional about them.  Stolen Valour Canada does not take our mission lightly. We are absolutely dedicated to finding posers where ever they may be and making sure that they are stopped from sullying the memory of Canada’s service men and women. For an individual to wear the Sacrifice Medal, without the making the requisite sacrifice is an absolute insult to our wounded and fallen.

These reprehensible acts should be punished to the fullest extent of the law.

Brent Errol TREMBLAY- Master Sergeant, Purple Heart & CIB? Nope…

Brent Tremblay
Neville, Sk

SVC would like to take this opportunity to recognize the assistance of  provided us by trusted friend, the late, Sergeant First Class Jonn Lilyea, a US Army Gulf War Veteran & co founder of the web site “This Ain’t Hell” (TAH)

Mr Brent Errol Tremblay, embellisher &  fake combat wounded veteran, welcome to the jungle!

https://valorguardians.com

https://militaryphony.com

Stolen-Valour Canada was advised by a number of parties that there was a potential issue with the US medals and insignia that Brent Tremblay of Neville, Saskatchewan had been photographed wearing.

Mr Tremblay rockin’ the US Combat Infantry Badge along with the Purple Heart. Interestingly, he’s not wearing the 2 medals he could be entitled to for his CAF service in Cyprus

Prior to investing any research effort into what could potentially become an wild goose chase, we contacted Mr Tremblay in (July 2018) order to provide him with an opportunity to sort out the reported situation. SVC does not act upon unsubstantiated intelligence or malicious tips, and we were hoping that he’d take advantage of our offer to assist to protecting his reputation.

Eventually, he read the emails, refused to cooperate and/or protect his reputation and, in fact, he made the now standard threats of legal action against us should we share our research on our media platforms. (22 Mar 2019)

However, we learned through an intermediary on 27 Mar 2019, Tremblay made the decision to ”cowboy up” and admit he had no lawful entitlement to wear the US military awards including the Purple Heart and CIB.

When contacted, Mr Tremblay told us that he had made an apology on an obscure fishin’ bubba’s FB page (he refused to share the apology, only his reaction to their messages of support) and that he had destroyed the US medals and insignia…

But, we already knew that as a result of our cross border partnerships, as SVC obtained the results of a FOIA request. Our American friends used Tremblay’s full name / confirmed date of birth in their communications with the National Personnel Records Center in St Louis, Missouri.

TREMBLAY_BRENT_ERROLL_nprc_refer_ng2

What we do know,

Mr Tremblay was a member of the Royal Regina Rifles for a short period of time (1980-81). He then joined the Regular Force as a Cook, completed his trades training at CFB Borden and subsequently served in Cyprus with the 2nd Bn PPCLI. He left the CAF shortly after his early repatriation to Canada.

As a legitimate Canadian Forces veteran with service in Cyprus Tremblay could be entitled to the Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal and the United Nations Forces in Cyprus (UNFICYP) Medal…

Thanks to investigative assistance of the late SFC Jonn Lilyea US Army (a Desert Shield / Storm infantryman / CIB recipient) and a co-founder of the US Blog This Ain’t Hell, we were advised that there was absolutely no record of Tremblay’s claimed service during Operation Desert Shield / Storm.

Had he been on Active Duty and deployed to the Middle East, the National Personnel Records Center in St Louis, Missouri would have held the documents.

It’s really quite simple,

Tremblay lived in various locations along the I-5 corridor in Washington State / Oregon (1990ish-2000s). He was a Power Generation Equipment Repairman serving with the 41st Infantry Brigade of the Oregon National Guard just long enough to have his official portrait taken…

He never served in the South West Asia theatre of operations in any capacity so, he could not have met the criteria for being awarded the Purple Heart Medal and the Combat Infantryman Badge…

There’s probably more to Tremblay’s story however, SVC has focussed on his medallic fuckery alone.

Fakers got to keep on fakin’… We’ve concealed the identity of “service dog” as he’s just another innocent victim / stage prop in Tremblay’s military themed fairy tale. (2 Oct 2019)

Lest We Forget.

With this admission of circumstance SVC, considers this matter closed.
The post will remain on our web site in perpetuity.

Robert Cooper – A “hero” from Call-sign Zero

We were asked to review a number of photographic images of “Sergeant” Robert Cooper who resides in the Wetaskiwin, Alberta area.

Our review identified many inconsistencies in his medallic display and, when combined with his confusing claims of service, that gave us cause to question his entire military narrative.

Our team conducted a thorough review of all available records, this included websites, newspaper articles, photographic images, regimental tour books, searchable data bases of medal recipients and extracts from military documents in Canada and the US in order to determine the legitimacy of his claims.

SV-C then reached out to the regimental and corps associations, their museums and other organizations in which Cooper has claimed to have served. The publicly accessible records, that we have had the opportunity to review, do not support the majority of his claims. The absence of verifiable records alone does not conclusively prove that an individual is a fake or embellisher, it just indicates that there are no records…

Mr Cooper has been playing his came for a number of years until the RCMP came knocking on his door.

From the images we were asked to review, It appears that the individual is wearing the Medal of Bravery (MB) and the Sacrifice Medal (SM). Fortunately, one’s entitlement to the MB is easily confirmed via the list of recipients available on the Governor General’s website ( http://gg.ca/honours.aspx?lan=eng ). Not surprisingly, Cooper is not listed.

Entitlement to the SM is somewhat more difficult, there have been approximately 850 awarded since its creation and the names of the living recipients are not in the public domain, except for the individuals who received their’s @ Rideau Hall during the initial presentation ceremony. That being said, it’s virtually impossible for a living individual to have a SM without an accompanying campaign medal.

Cooper claims this group of medals from his “service” as a civilian contractor working for the US Army and USMC.

US Purple Heart Medal – In 1997, at the urging of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, the US  Congress passed legislation prohibiting future awards of the Purple Heart to civilians. Today, the Purple Heart is reserved for men and women in uniform. Civilian employees of the U.S. Department of Defense who are killed or wounded as a result of hostile action may receive the Defense of Freedom Medal created after the terrorist attacks on 11 Sept 2001.

Once again, purchasing a bogus certificate and wearing a fake medal doesn’t change simple arithmetic and recorded history!

What we do know, Cooper was a Signalman (Private) radio operator in I Headquarters and Signal Squadron located in CFB Calgary in the early 1980s. By all accounts, he had a some what lack lustre career trajectory, he couldn’t pass the Battle Fitness Tests required of all soldiers in the field force and it’s reported he went AWOL on at least 2 occasions! And, he was shown the door…

It appears that Mr Cooper doesn’t have a leg to stand on when it comes to his claim of being involved in a mine strike! And, if you are offended by this caption perhaps, you should direct your ire towards Mr Cooper, an individual who portrays himself as a combat wounded vet!

***UPDATE*** Earl C WOOLERY III ***UPDATE

Timing is everything Mr WOOLERY, SVC offered to assist you sorting out your apparent medallic anomalies several months ago and you refused our help.

Now why would you choose to make ridiculous legal threats against us?

Are you really accusing us of questionable conduct and human rights violations?

Or, is this, a weak and feeble attempt at deflection?

***UPDATE***

Today, 11 July 2018, Mr Woolery turned himself into the Ontario Provincial Police and was arrested, charged with five offences, and released on a promise to appear note.

He appears in court August 9th.

The charges are: theft under $5000, fraud under $5000, criminal breach of trust, falsification of books/documents and the S419 charge relating to the medals he wears.

SVC told you there was more to the story…

Goodbye Earl!

Earl Woolery III – Gulf War 1 Fake

Earl Woolery who claims that he served in the first Gulf War as a Cavalry Scout.

He was, in fact, a Staff Sergeant serving in an amored cavalry unit however, he didn’t deploy on any phase of Desert Shield / Desert Storm, as Lincoln, Nebraska wasn’t threatened by Saddam Hussein.

Thanks to our partners at This Ain’t Hell (http://thisainthell.us/blog/) we were able to confirm Mr Wollery’s actual status during GW1.

Aside from the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the two Liberation of Kuwait Medals and the extra OLCs… what’s the problem?

He must have been using some skookum optics / sensors as Lincoln, Nebraska was 7000 miles from the berm!

There’s much more to this fella’s story, we’ll just focus on the medallic fuckery™…

Donald “uncle donnie” LEMMOND aka Tyrell

Donald Lemmond aka TYRELL spoke at a Remembrance Day activity at a Local college, telling the audience that he had served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He wore a vast spectrum of medals including a Silver Star, a POW Medal and a Purple Heart.

Lemmond also told the audience how he had served in Afghanistan and Iraq and he had retired from the military in 2007 as a “full captain” in the medical corps. As it turns out, he spent some time in the reserves in Canada. Initially, Lemmond said that his cousin had awarded him the medals, but now he admits that he bought them and just pinned them on because “I thought it would give me a little more authority in the job that I was performing for the legion that I was in….”

Watch the video of his speech @ this link https://youtu.be/t_srCqXoqnU

The federal government has implemented new rules covering how veterans are invited to citizenship ceremonies, following the discovery of fake servicemen last year at Remembrance Day ceremonies in Hamilton, Ont. and Ottawa. Citizen and Immigration Canada (CIC) says it has has implemented a number of safeguards, including having CIC officials liaise with regional veterans’ associations, verify their records, and prevent dishonourably discharged veterans from participating. “The steps above will ensure that [Canadian Armed Forces] members and veterans may continue to play an important role in welcoming new citizens to the Canadian family, while ensuring that incidents such as the one referenced does not happen again,” said CIC spokeswoman Nancy Caron.

Donald Lemmond received a suspended sentence and 12 months probation after pleading guilty to unlawful use of military uniforms and medals.

Unfinished Business!

Remember this poser who self identified as a war criminal?

Daniel Howard WHITESELL
Windsor, Ontario

Whitesell said that “his team would enter the villages in the middle of the night, and that if a teenager or child, the same age as the students he was speaking to had seen him, that he had to silence them by any means necessary to avoid giving up their position, alluding to the fact that he had killed innocent children during his service.”

http://stolenvalour.ca/index.php/2018/12/16/daniel-howard-whitesell-is-he-a-special-forces-cwo-rsm-or-a-navy-reserve-bin-rat/

In a series of  emails, which we have not responded to, Whitesell has demanded that we remove the posts which detailed his medallic fuckery™ while portraying himself to be a highly decorated special forces operator. He has also threatened SVC with legal action and he’s now engaged a lawyer and will initiate a 400 Thousand dollar lawsuit against us. Apparently, Whitesell holds the belief that we are harassing him by not removing the documentary evidence of his bogus military service from our social media platforms…

So, how did we become aware of his shameful tales of murdering innocent children in the performance of his duties?

*Where did he believe the photographic evidence of his military themed fairytales that are showcased on our platforms originated?

*Did he think that his bogus persec / persec demands directed at 600 school kids would be followed?

SVC has supporters in every region of the country and they share our approach of separating posers, fakes and embellishers from their their bogus medals, uniforms, insignia and lies.

The “RSM’s” shadow box of shameful stories…Who’s picture has he used to pump his tires?

Although the plaque is difficult to read in the image; the “RSM” makes a number of interesting claims!

What we do know, Whitesell was never member of the former Canadian Forces Medical Service now Royal Canadian Medical Service or the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry. He has never served in Canadian Special Operations Force Command and he certainly wasn’t a member of the Clan of the Big Badges!

Whitesell attempted to purchase a replica medals group from a reputable medal mounting service claiming that he had sent his originals to the National War Museum. The company declined his business…

However, Whitesell’s limited service in the Navy Reserves should have taught him that honesty & integrity are critical personal attributes of a professional service member. However, his willingness to stand in the blood of our wounded and fallen for personal financial gain indicates that he knows absolutely nothing of what it takes to be soldier!

Perhaps, Whitesell should provide proof that the 150 dollar honorarium he received for his Remembrance Day performance was donated to “the children’s hospital” as he has claimed?

His reprehensible conduct has insulted the dedicated service and incredible sacrifices made by every member of the CAF and their families.

And, for that there is a consequence…

SVC will provide former Ordinary Seaman Daniel Howard WHITESELL of Windsor, Ontario an opportunity to take full ownership of this situation and publicly apologize, via our platforms, for his reprehensible actions. He knows how to contact us…
