Updated-Milan KRES – He’s not just a bogus jumper!-Updated

In the Summer of 2017, SVC was asked to have a look at Mr Milan Kres’ claims after he made some outrageous claims on multiple Airborne and Special Forces webpages and forums.

He claimed to have been an airborne soldier and special forces operator who had deployed world wide and lost men in battle.

Mr Kres has absolutely NO lawful entitlement to these medals and and what they represent.

Nice try shit ball… Not really!

When questioned by legitimate soldiers, Kres produced his serialized Canadian Airborne Regiment coin as proof of service. The coin pictured, is a poor copy of the original version and can be bought online $24.99 / engraving is extra…

What we do know, Kres was militia member with the Loyal Edmonton Regiment in the late 1970s, he left the Reserve Force after a short period of time, and then did all of his soldiering on-line, at military surplus stores and in the tattoo parlour.

Former Private Kres has yet to apologize for his actions, surrender the bogus items, and he continues to be seen at military related events in the Edmonton area.

Lest we forget.

*** UPDATE – 4 August 2020 ***

Way back in 2017,  SVC was asked to look at the claims being made by Milan Helmut KRES of Edmonton Alberta. He claimed to have been an airborne soldier and special forces operator who had deployed on operations world wide and lost men in battle.

His claims resulted in considerable discussion in veterans forums and we took every efforts to contact him in order to sort out the situation.

His response?

Kres deleted the images of the medals, insignia and certificates and went silent.

Perhaps,  he heard foot steps after SVC initiated the “Shameless Sunday” showcase of unrepentant posers, fakes and embellishers who had yet to responsibility for their actions.

After 3 years of silence Mr Kres contacted us last week and stated that he wanted to make amends and asked what steps he had to take in order to do so.

As the window to pursue criminal charges against him had long since closed, Kres was advised that a public apology for his reprehensible actions would be a starting point.

He was further advised that surrendering the bogus medals, badges,  insignia and certificates for appropriate disposal action would confirm his commitment to never use them as props in a game of military make believe.

A SVC representative met with Kres on 4 August 2020 and took control of assorted bogus items. These items will be properly disposed of / placed on display in military facilities as appropriate or applicable.

SVC has now closed the file on this matter.

Hendrik Van der pol – “the Lying Dutchman”

Hendrick Van der pol – “the Dutchman”

In the image taken at the Silver Fox Entertainment Centre in Summerside PEI on 11 November 2019, he’s rockin’ a most interesting collection of ribbons and insignia.

The ribbons represent the Canadian Somalia Medal, Special Service Medal, Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal, UN Interim Force in Lebanon, UN Protection Force, UN Assistance Mission in Rwanda, NATO (FY), the Canada 125th Anniversary, the Canadian Forces Decoration, a privately purchased Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal & The St John Ambulance Service Medal.

Of the 3 medal ribbons on the bottom row, there’s the Netherlands UN Peacekeeping Medal, the centre one is unknown and the last is a privately purchased UN commemorative trinket.

Our Dutch friends tell us that he is wearing the Draaginsigne Gewonden, legitimately awarded, on his left chest pocket, the badge is analogous to Canada’s Sacrifice Medal.

What we do know.

He was a Boatswain in the Navy Reserve 1991-97 then transferred to the Regular Force as an Infantryman serving in 2nd Bn RCR in Gagetown 1997-2001. He completed a tour in Bosnia 1999 and was awarded the CPSM and NATO (FY) Medal.  Van der pol voluntarily left the CF in 2001.

Before joining the CF, Van der Pol had prior service in the Netherlands Army and he was deployed as a mechanized infantryman with the UN Interim Force in Lebanon.

Of the medal ribbons that he’s wearing, there is no evidence that Dutchman has any lawful entitlement to the wear the (1) Canadian Somalia Medal, (2) the Canadian Special Service Medal (NATO), (3) UN Protection Force Medal, (4) UN Assistance Mission in Rwanda Medal, (5) Canada 125th Medal, (6) the Canadian Forces Decoration and, (7) the St John Ambulance Service Medal.

Of course, there’s an awesome vest involved…

In an email exchange with Van der pol, he talks of role in a play in which he played a soldier suffering from PTSD who became a biker…

He claims the uniform and jacked up ribbons and insignia were just stage props that he wore on the same day as he was camping with a 2% van club in Europe and he changed on the way to the venue.

Cool story bro, the ribbons on the uniform and your cut are identical unfortunately, the images are separated by 6 years!

You also told us that you were wearing the US Combat Infantry Badge to honour your father, a Netherlander who was wounded in action in Korea.

And, the jump wings were awarded / purchased at a civvy parachute school and your CO authorized you to wear them.

The US Navy wings are an interesting addition to his medallic fuckery…

Never pass a fault.

James M Dobson-another fake Jumper/Pathfinder from Windsor, On

We are asked to have a look at Dobson’s high speed, low drag claims by some brothers from another mother.

Dobson is wearing the MiD oak leaf on his NATO Former Yugoslavia ribbon and he’s not listed an the GG’s website detailing the recipients. Now, there could be 3 reasons for that, (1) an administrative error, (2) he’s a former SF operator and his award was never named publicly or, (3) he’s wearing it without lawful authority…

Secondly, he’s wearing the undress ribbon of a medal that only 31 Canadians have ever been awarded, we can find no record of him serving on either the UNOSOM 1 or 2 missions.

This medal is separate and distinct from the Canadian Somalia Medal that members of the CAR Battle Group were awarded.

SVC has reviewed the nominal roll for the CAR BG and he’s not listed as a member on that either.

We are also well connected with the Airborne Forces groups, and not one soldier can recall serving with him as a jumper. Additionally, the Pathfinders are one of the tightest fraternities in the Canadian Army, and again no one knows of him, attended the patrol pathfinder course with him, nor served with him regiment!

We can find absolutely no evidence of Mr. Dobson being an Infantryman in The Royal Canadian Regiment, a paratrooper, member of the Canadian Airborne Regiment and/or a Pathfinder,

He’s not Mentioned in Dispatches,

https://www.gg.ca/honours.aspx?lan=eng

Dobson didn’t receive the MiD from the Brits either as some have suggested… http://forces.gc.ca/assets/FORCES_Internet/docs/en/honours-history-medals-chart/commonwealth-and-foreign-honours.pdf

He didn’t serve in Canadian Forces Europe, the Former Yugoslavia or Somalia,

Not a single day in the Canadian Army, however, he’s wearing a lotta bling for a fella that was in Army Cadets!

SVC reached out to Dobson with the goal of assisting him sort out the situation, although he has read our emails, there’s been no response.

With a 0 and 3 record, we can safely assume he wasn’t on the regimental unarmed combat team. Two KOs and a turtle, yep, that’s the fighting spirit the CAR was known for!

Oh Danny Boy! – Master Corporal Daniel (Fon Fon) Lafontaine CD

Stolen Valour Canada was advised by a number of parties that there was a potential issue with the medals that Mr Lafontaine, a former Gunner and Supply Technician, had been photographed wearing.

SVC does not act upon unsubstantiated intelligence or malicious tips that are often initiated as a result of petty jealousy, marital misadventure or, sheer vindictiveness. We won’t waste any staff effort on someone’s “gut feel” nor do we do participate in witch hunts. Tipsters must provide evidence (pictures, news articles, social media links) of their concerns before we can move forward.

Prior to investing any research effort into what has the potential to become a wild goose chase; we contact named individuals in order to provide them with an opportunity to sort out the reported situation. Our hope, they would take advantage of our offer to protect his reputation and silence this issue once and for all.

To that end, we asked that he provide us with the documentation that would prove his entitlement to the Special Service Medal – ALERT (May-Aug 94), UNPROFOR (Jan-Jun 95), UNMIH (Jun-Nov 96) and the Canada 125th Medals.

Of particular concern to us, his claim of being held, along with a Corporal as a “hostage” by the Serbs for 31 days in 1995.

SVC is well aware of hostage incidents involving Canadians that occurred in the UN’s Bosnia-Herzegovina Command including those involving Canadian Army units in Bosnia (GT 12e RBC, RCD BG, 3 R22eR and Canadian UN Military Observers) over the course of the UN Protection Force mission.

There is no open source evidence that CF personnel were held in excess of one month by any of the warring factions. However, given the press coverage of actual hostage events, it’s difficult to believe there’s absolutely no record of the event Lafontaine describes…

Mr Lafontaine quickly sent us a copy of his Military Personnel Records Resume (MPRR) dated 6 August 2003 however, there were a number of anomalies that caused us some concern. Now, these anomalies could be easily explainable administrative errors or, more ominously, could it be an attempt to deceive us by providing an altered document?

When the anomalies were questioned, Lafontaine’s response followed an entirely predictable path,

(1) Feigned cooperation,

(2) Indignation, denial and veiled threats of legal action when asked to clarify our specific concerns,

(3) Removal of photographic evidence of medallic fuckery™ from social media accounts, and

(4) Followed by blocking us from those same accounts.

An interesting response particularly, after he willingly sent SVC his MPRR… Was it because we questioned his claims?

Former MCpl Lafontaine’s work in the veterans community, for which he has been formally recognized by the Minister of Veterans Affairs and the Veterans Affairs Ombudsman doesn’t earn him a pass on his highly suspicious operational narrative.

The puck is clearly in his end of the rink, he can either produce independently verifiable documents that will support his claims or, he can apologize for his medallic fuckery™ and commit to surrendering his bogus medals and insignia.

***Update 17 Sept 2018***

Lafontaine, in a now pulled French language radio interview, admitted that his hostage story was a complete fabrication and that he purchased the UN Haiti medal and added it to his group. He has yet to cowboy up in regards to the medals he wore indicating service in Alert, Bosnia (UNPROFOR), along with the Canada 125th Anniversary medal, the Chief of Defence Staff Commendation and a Commander’s Commendation..

Stolen Valour dénonce l’imposture du vétéran de Québec Daniel «Fonfon» Lafontaine

14 Canadian Forces members gave their lives in support of operations at CFS Alert.

12 Canadian Forces members gave their lives “in the service of peace”during the United Nations Protection Force (UNPROFOR) mission in the Balkans.

One CF member died “in the service of peace” during the United Nations Mission in Haiti.

Lafontaine insults their service and sacrifice with his military themed fairy tales…

Lest We Forget

Daniel Howard WHITESELL is he a Special Forces CWO / RSM or a navy reserve bin rat?

We were asked to review the claims made by “Chief Warrant Officer” Daniel Harold WHITESELL (DOB 2X/03/195x) of Windsor, Ontario.

Our review identified many inconsistencies in his presentation made to 600 school children at a Remembrance Day event @ Ecole Secondaire E. J. Lajeunesse in Windsor, On.

He claimed to be a veteran with 38 years of service. He spoke to the students saying that he was former Joint Task Force 2 special forces operator and had served in Afghanistan for eight years, Rwanda, Bosnia, as well as served a short 2-year stint in the navy.

He brought with him a framed photo of himself in uniform, surrounded by dozens of medals. He also presented some form of coin to show the entire school.

During his presentation, he spoke about how he had done awful things that he was not proud of.

At first he said that as special ops he could not speak about the things he had done, however later during the Q and A period one of the students asked him “what the hardest job he had done was?”

At this point he told us about how he was going after high ranking Taliban in small villages in Afghanistan. He said that his team would enter the villages in the middle of the night, and that if a teenager or child, the same age as the students he was speaking to had seen him, that he had to silence them by any means necessary to avoid giving up their position, Alluding to the fact that he had killed innocent children during his service.

This horrified many of the students…

His ridiculous claims combined with an image of him wearing a green beret and PPCLI “other ranks” hat-badge, gave us cause to question his entire military narrative.

Our team conducted a thorough review of all available records, this included websites, newspaper articles, photographic images, regimental tour books, and extracts from military documents in Canada in order to determine the legitimacy of his claims.

SV-C then reached out to the regimental and corps associations, their museums and other organizations in which WHITESELL has claimed to have served. The publicly accessible records, that we have had the opportunity to review, do not support his claims.

The absence of verifiable records alone does not conclusively prove that an individual is a fake or embellisher, it just indicates that there are no records…

Claiming to be a CWO/RSM with decades long service in the PPCLI!

Dude, do you know how few men have been given the  honour and privilege to join that group?

Every Patricia Regimental Sergeant Major is known and you ain’t one of them!

What we do know.

Mr WHITESELL wasn’t an “operator” of any description, he was an Ordinary Seaman in the Naval Reserve and employed as a Supply Technician in HMCS Hunter in Windsor, Ontario. We have been told anecdotally that he sailed in a Porte Class training vessel on a Great Lakes deployment in the 1980s and, that he may have spent a short period in the Army Reserve.

Ordinary Seaman WHITESELL’s navy ride / sleek greyhound of death.

By all accounts, he had a some what lack-lustre career trajectory, and left the unit in the early 90s.

“CWO” Dan WHITESELL also known as
Call sign “Chicken Legs”

Well Mr Daniel Howard Whitesell, the puck is in your end of the rink.

It’s now time for you to surrender the PPCLI hat badge that you have absolutely no entitlement to; followed by a public apology for your shitbaggery.

Lest We Forget.

Unfinished Business!

Remember this poser who self identified as a war criminal?

Daniel Howard WHITESELL
Windsor, Ontario

Whitesell said that “his team would enter the villages in the middle of the night, and that if a teenager or child, the same age as the students he was speaking to had seen him, that he had to silence them by any means necessary to avoid giving up their position, alluding to the fact that he had killed innocent children during his service.”

http://stolenvalour.ca/index.php/2018/12/16/daniel-howard-whitesell-is-he-a-special-forces-cwo-rsm-or-a-navy-reserve-bin-rat/

In a series of  emails, which we have not responded to, Whitesell has demanded that we remove the posts which detailed his medallic fuckery™ while portraying himself to be a highly decorated special forces operator. He has also threatened SVC with legal action and he’s now engaged a lawyer and will initiate a 400 Thousand dollar lawsuit against us. Apparently, Whitesell holds the belief that we are harassing him by not removing the documentary evidence of his bogus military service from our social media platforms…

So, how did we become aware of his shameful tales of murdering innocent children in the performance of his duties?

*Where did he believe the photographic evidence of his military themed fairytales that are showcased on our platforms originated?

*Did he think that his bogus persec / persec demands directed at 600 school kids would be followed?

SVC has supporters in every region of the country and they share our approach of separating posers, fakes and embellishers from their their bogus medals, uniforms, insignia and lies.

The “RSM’s” shadow box of shameful stories…Who’s picture has he used to pump his tires?

Although the plaque is difficult to read in the image; the “RSM” makes a number of interesting claims!

What we do know, Whitesell was never member of the former Canadian Forces Medical Service now Royal Canadian Medical Service or the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry. He has never served in Canadian Special Operations Force Command and he certainly wasn’t a member of the Clan of the Big Badges!

Whitesell attempted to purchase a replica medals group from a reputable medal mounting service claiming that he had sent his originals to the National War Museum. The company declined his business…

However, Whitesell’s limited service in the Navy Reserves should have taught him that honesty & integrity are critical personal attributes of a professional service member. However, his willingness to stand in the blood of our wounded and fallen for personal financial gain indicates that he knows absolutely nothing of what it takes to be soldier!

Perhaps, Whitesell should provide proof that the 150 dollar honorarium he received for his Remembrance Day performance was donated to “the children’s hospital” as he has claimed?

His reprehensible conduct has insulted the dedicated service and incredible sacrifices made by every member of the CAF and their families.

And, for that there is a consequence…

SVC will provide former Ordinary Seaman Daniel Howard WHITESELL of Windsor, Ontario an opportunity to take full ownership of this situation and publicly apologize, via our platforms, for his reprehensible actions. He knows how to contact us…
